What the world has forgotten
You have walked these roads before — but the roads have moved. Here is the settled truth of what has changed, as revealed at BlizzCon 2026. We speak only of what is confirmed; rumor has no place in an honest chronicle.
The heart of it: Forever is neither a retelling of Classic nor the Azeroth of the modern age. It is a world made new upon old bones — the first sixty levels reforged, and destined to grow with fresh trials for years to come. “Classic, and beyond,” if you would have it plainly.
The Shape of the World
- The realms are no more. Forever is realmless — one unbroken world in place of sundered servers. The old dread of “which realm shall I choose” is ended.
- A controller may guide your hand. A first for old Azeroth — the world is now truly playable from a seat by the hearth.
- New and reshaped lands, among them Mount Hyjal and the Riverglades, so that even the seasoned tread unfamiliar ground.
- Fresh dungeons and raids for ten and twenty, unfurling across the first year, beside old halls remembered.

Of Heroes and Their Kin
- A new people: the Skyborne, a neutral race open to both banners, with their own beginning upon Zephras Isle — and new Druid forms unseen before.
- The Forsaken may now bear the Light as Paladins — with a Forsaken Charger to ride. Once impossible; now made real.
- The talent trees are remade. So much has shifted that the old talent-reckonings had to be rebuilt from nothing. Trust no “perfect build” penned before Forever.
Callings Reforged
- The Protection Paladin has a true taunt at last. A grievance carried since Classic, mended — the Paladin who holds the line is far surer for it.
- More modern comforts are woven into each calling's craft; the finer details will surface as the beta unfolds.
Kindnesses of the New Age
- Shared spoils of the dungeon. When a rare appearance falls in a dungeon, its likeness is granted to the whole party — no more losing a coveted look to one who merely wanted the skin.
- Over six hundred new recipes, and a true home to build and keep through Player Housing.
Trials and Their Hour
- Hardcore does not greet you at the gate. It comes later in winter. And when it does, to fall is not the end — you may pass into PvP, not only PvE as the old law demanded.
- The world opens: November 4, 2026 — yours with any World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time.
- The beta: September 17 through October 21, 2026.
